Air Line Pilot Association (ALPA) executive leaders and safety champions testified on behalf of 63,000 airline pilots at two hearings this week on Air Traffic Control (ATC) modernization and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization.  

With the fall television season in full swing and the Emmy Awards rapidly approaching, what better time to highlight some of ALPA’s own award winners? Each year at the ALPA Air Safety Forum, ALPA members are recognized for their outstanding performances and professionalism.

Those first signs of fall are in the air, and that means it's time for students to head back to school. Hopefully, this summer included vacations and time with family, friends, fun, and even airplane rides. As summer ends, ALPA's Education Committee is busy preparing for the new school year. We have big plans to inspire the next generation of airline pilots and give them the resources, tools, and career advice they need to pursue a job in the airline industry.

 

I grew up in a union family. My father was incredibly dedicated to the work of his union, the International Union of Operating Engineers. As a child, I didn’t understand why he spent so much time away from home as a union volunteer. So, I asked him one day. 

September is the most active month of the Atlantic hurricane season in the United States. This means that thousands of ALPA members could potentially be impacted by severe weather or catastrophic flooding. When disaster strikes, ALPA’s Pilots for Pilots (P4P) program stands ready to help fellow pilots with immediate financial assistance to anyone who is affected.
