Unions Good for Workers, Good for Communities

The Landing

ALPA pilots are no strangers to the benefits of unionization. Pooling resources and working together manifests a stronger, louder voice leading to better pay, benefits, and working conditions. In the U.S., more than 14 million are unionized. In Canada, nearly 30 percent of the workforce is unionized. Although union numbers on a larger scale are shrinking, a recent report from the Economic Policy Institute highlights why this trend should absolutely change. Drawing a direct correlation between states with higher levels of unionization and data supporting greater economic, personal, and democratic well-being for their residents, the report provides measurable evidence of why “Unions Are Not Only Good for Workers, They’re Good for Communities and for Democracy.”
