An Introduction to ALPA for Kalitta Crewmembers
February 20, 2018
Dear Kalitta Air Crewmembers,
Welcome to the Air Line Pilots Association, Int'l!
As many of you know, the crewmembers of each ALPA-represented airline elect their own Master Executive Council (MEC), and that elected MEC coordinates ALPA’s affairs at the airline. Our goal is to establish an elected MEC at Kalitta as soon as possible. But we can’t hold a meaningful election until crewmembers have time to submit membership applications, and we also need time to process those applications. In the meantime, the ALPA Constitution directs me to appoint three Kalitta crewmembers to serve as your "interim" MEC. I have appointed the following crewmembers to fill the interim MEC positions:
- Chairman and Captain Representative: Captain Doug Pearce
- Vice Chairman and First Officer Representative: F/O Muhammad Sayyed
- Secretary-Treasurer: Capt. Drew Kelley
These interim representatives will have all the authority necessary to represent Kalitta pilots for the next few months until we can complete elections. We’ll send out more information soon about the election process, but for now, if you have not already sent in your membership application, I encourage you to fill out and submit your ALPA membership application electronically. The sooner we receive a meaningful number of applications, the sooner we can get to elections.
In addition, the sooner we receive your application, the sooner you will have access to the benefits available to ALPA members, including those listed below. (If you need help with the application, please contact our Membership department at 1-888-FLY-ALPA, option 3 and 3.)

Smartphone/Tablet Apps
ALPA designed an app that allows you to check compliance with the Part 117 rest rule and avoid potential violations. Another app offers quick links to Known Crewmember locations at airports, the ALPA Worldwide Accident/Serious Incident Hotline, and more. Members can download both apps--available for iOS and Android devices.
ALPA
is a member-driven organization, and it won’t work without member
participation. Please get involved—stay informed, attend meetings, volunteer
to serve on committees, vote for your representatives, and consider running
for office.
The Association looks forward to working with you and your elected
representatives to achieve your goals, and—with the support of 59,000 ALPA
members—to help secure the future of our profession.
Please Note: We have not yet gathered contact information for all Kalitta crewmembers, so we encourage you to check with your colleagues and forward this message to any Kalitta crewmembers who have not received it.
Thanks again, and welcome to the Association!
Sincerely,
Capt. WIlliam
Couette
