WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) recognized Delta Air Lines First Officer Matt Clark with a Presidential Citation for his tireless commitment to advancing the Association’s security work. The award was presented today during ALPA’s 63rd Air Safety Forum in Washington, D.C.

“ALPA volunteers like First Officer Clark are the foundation of our union and a major component in ensuring that ALPA remains the largest, most effective nongovernmental safety organization in the world,” said Capt. Tim Canoll, ALPA president. “His dedication to ensuring that pilots have the resources needed to protect the cockpit helps promote aviation security across the industry. We are grateful for all of First Officer Clark’s efforts and proud to recognize his numerous accomplishments that continue to advance the piloting profession.”

For several years, First Officer Clark has dedicated his efforts toward gaining a better understanding of security-related incidents and using that information to protect pilots. In addition to serving as chairman of the Delta ALPA Aviation Security Committee, First Officer Clark has been a strong advocate for pilots through his role with the Critical Incident Response Program and the Delta Pilot Network.

"First Officer Clark is a truly dedicated pilot, not just to his singular position, but to the betterment of the industry and the profession. He has distinguished himself through his dedication and efforts as our Aviation Security Committee chairman, leading us forward as a pilot group with heightened awareness, knowledge, and prevention for safer, more secure flying," said Captain Bill Bartels, chairman of the Delta Air Lines branch of ALPA.
