ALPA Commends NTSB Confirmations

Pilots Eager to Continue Mutual Goal of Advancing Safety

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Capt. Tim Canoll, president of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int'l (ALPA) issued the following statement regarding today's U.S. Senate confirmations of Christopher Hart as the 13th chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Dr. T. Bella Dinh-Zarr as its newest member.

"Mr. Hart's long history of championing proactive aviation safety programs and preventing accidents through improved data sharing reflects a deep commitment to using safety information voluntarily shared every day by thousands of ALPA pilots.

"Beginning decades ago with collaboration on the Global Aviation Information Network and continuing through work in the Commercial Aviation Safety Team and beyond, ALPA pilots have witnessed first-hand Mr. Hart's commitment to data-driven decisions based on information beyond what is found through accident or incident investigations.

"In addition, Dr. Dinh-Zarr has a long history of working tirelessly to improve transportation safety. From her work at NHTSA, AAA, and the FIA foundation, Dr. Dinh-Zarr has demonstrated a lifelong passion for pursuing transportation safety improvements.

"ALPA looks forward to continuing our well-established partnership with NTSB and to working with Chairman Hart and Board Member Dr. Dihn-Zarr in their new roles to further our mutual goal of achieving the highest standards of aviation safety."
