Delta Pilots Union Elects Leadership

ATLANTA, GA—Today, the nine Local Executive Councils (LECs) of the Delta Master Executive Council (MEC), represented by the Air Line Pilots Association International, met in Atlanta to elect new leadership in a regularly scheduled election. The Delta MEC is the governing body of the airline’s 12,000 pilots.

Captain Mike Donatelli was re-elected to the position of MEC chairman.

Captain Ed Havrilla, a Los Angeles based international 767-300 pilot, was elected MEC vice chairman.

Captain Greg Rizzuto, a JFK based 320 pilot, was elected MEC secretary.

Captain Matt Geddie, an Atlanta based 737 pilot, was elected MEC treasurer.

Captain Donatelli is a Detroit based Boeing 777 pilot at Delta Air Lines, Inc. He was hired by Delta in 1987. Prior to his service as MEC chairman, he served ALPA as ALPA National Strategic Preparedness & Strike Committee (SPSC) chairman (2007 – present). Other roles include ALPA delegate AFL-CIO Quadrennial Conventions, Delta MEC Strike chairman, and ALPA Council 43 vice-chairman (Delta/ORD).

Captain Donatelli received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy in 1979. He served as a combat fighter pilot flying the A-10 Thunderbolt II at RAF Bentwaters, UK. Additionally, he was a United States Air Force Weapons School instructor in Las Vegas, NV. He served in the Wisconsin Air National Guard flying the A-10 and the F-16, and retired from the USAF in 1999 as lieutenant colonel.

Captain Havrilla was hired by Delta in 1987 and most recently served as Council 16 chairman. He has also served three terms on the ALPA Delta MEC System Board, and served as 2nd officer rep for Council 16. Captain Havrilla is a graduate of the George Meany Center for Labor Studies, Negotiating School. Havrilla was an active duty Navy S3 pilot and flew C9s in the Naval Reserve, retiring as a commander. He is a graduate of Villanova University, with a degree in mechanical engineering.

Captain Greg Rizzuto was hired by Northwest in 1996 and most recently served as MEC Strategic Planning Committee chairman. His past ALPA service includes Delta MEC executive administrator, Communications Committee chairman for Northwest MEC and also for the Delta MEC. Captain Rizzuto also served as Council 20 first officer representative. Rizzuto graduated from Thomas Edison State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in applied science and technology.

Captain Matt Geddie was hired by Delta in 1991. He has served ALPA as Council 48 chairman and as a member of the Delta MEC Pilot-to-Pilot Committee. He served in the United States Air Force retiring from the Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and holds a masters in management from Webster University.

The officers will serve a two-year term, assuming their new duties on January 1, 2015.
