ALPA to Present First Officer Isabelle Caron with Pilot Assistance Award

Jazz Pilot Recognized for Outstanding Service in Pilot Assistance

WASHINGTON—The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) will recognize Jazz First Officer Isabelle Caron for her commitment to providing outstanding support to her fellow pilots. ALPA will present her with the prestigious 2013 ALPA Pilot Assistance Award at the Association’s 60th Air Safety Forum, held August 4–7 in Washington, D.C.

Based in Montreal, Quebec, F/O Caron, an ALPA member since 2000, pilots a Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft and serves as a committee member on the Jazz MEC’s Pilot Assistance Committee.

Since 2004, F/O Caron has worked with Canadian pilots in many aspects of pilot assistance as a member of the Canadian Pilot Assistance Group, which provides guidance and help to pilots facing challenges in any aspect of their professional or personal lives that may affect their work. She has helped pilots overcome professional and personal obstacles so they can perform at their best in the cockpit.

“Through her tireless dedication to training and volunteerism, F/O Caron contributes to enhancing and promoting the health and well-being of her fellow ALPA members,” said ALPA president Capt. Lee Moak. “She is always the first one in line when a training event is announced, and she continually upgrades her skills so she can give pilots her best.”

F/O Caron’s accomplishments include providing assistance to all of the pilots and their families and employees following the 2011 First Air Flight 6560 accident at Resolute Bay in Nunavut, Canada, and helping the Montreal-based Jazz pilots with Critical Incident Response Program (CIRP) issues and conflict resolution.
