ALPA Honors Captain Aaron Fry with ALPA’s Prestigious Presidential Citation

Fort Mill Pilot Upholds Highest Standards of Commitment and Professionalism

WASHINGTON—The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) will recognize Air Wisconsin Captain Aaron Fry with its Presidential Citation during ALPA’s 60th Air Safety Forum, held August 4–7 in Washington, D.C.

A Bombardier CRJ 200 pilot based at New York City’s LaGuardia Airport, Air Wisconsin (ARW) Capt. Aaron Fry, of Fort Mill, S.C., has for two years chaired the Air Wisconsin pilot group’s Pilot Assistance Committee, which provides guidance and help to pilots facing challenges in any aspect of their professional or personal lives that may affect their work.

“As chairman of the ARW Pilot Assistance Committee, Capt. Fry has proven to be an invaluable asset to his airline and to ALPA,” said ALPA president Capt. Lee Moak. “He has helped pilots overcome professional and personal obstacles so they can perform at their very best in the cockpit.”

Capt. Fry has been instrumental in further developing and strengthening the Human Intervention and Motivation Study (HIMS) program to his airline. HIMS is specific to commercial pilots and coordinates the treatment of impaired aviators and their return to the cockpit. It is an industry-wide effort in which companies, pilot unions, and the Federal Aviation Administration work together to preserve careers and further aviation safety. “Without Capt. Fry’s dedication to enhancing and promoting the health and well-being of his fellow ALPA members, many of the pilots who he has helped may have lost their careers and their livelihoods,” added Capt. Moak.

Founded in 1931, ALPA is the world’s largest pilot union, representing more than 51,000 pilots at 31 airlines in the United States and Canada. Visit the ALPA website at www.alpa.org or follow us on Twitter @WeAreALPA.
