ALPA Applauds Christopher Hart’s Nomination to Chair NTSB

WASHINGTON—Today, the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) issued the following statement regarding President Obama’s announcement yesterday nominating acting National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chairman Christopher Hart to lead the NTSB.

“ALPA applauds President Obama’s nomination of Christopher Hart as chairman of the NTSB. Hart’s extensive experience in multiple aspects of transportation and the aviation industry has resulted in repeated safety advances over decades of service.

“Hart has long advocated for the collection and sharing of safety data. In the years since his initial term at the NTSB from 1990 to 1993, and through his leadership roles at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), ALPA and the industry as a whole have benefited from his vigorous efforts to improve aviation safety.

“ALPA has worked with Hart both as a regulator and as a board member and found him to be a leader and innovator of the highest standards. He is extremely knowledgeable in aviation as a pilot, an engineer, and an attorney, and we look forward to continuing to collaborate with him to further improve aviation safety.”
