Richard Harrell Appointed ALPA Information Technology Director

Washington, DC - Today, the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest pilots union in the world, announced that Richard Harrell has been appointed as Information Technology Director. Effective April 11, 2014, Rick will lead ALPA’s Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, network and operations, and applications and development teams to support ALPA members and advance their pilot partisan agenda through technology and innovation.

Richard Harrell’s 16+ years of ALPA experience and proven track record, coupled with his outside experience, make Rick uniquely qualified to vigorously lead ALPA’s IT initiatives, strategically align our IT operations with ALPA’s objectives and priorities, and focus on our IT vision going forward.

Before joining ALPA, Rick was a Senior IT Program Manager at Freddie Mac where he managed large-scale cross-organizational business technology products. Prior to Freddie Mac, he was a Program Manager for the USDA Billing and Collection System.

ALPA President Captain Lee Moak said of Harrell: “Rick is the precise leader we need to realign our IT resources and position ALPA to provide real-time, cutting edge value to our members.”
