Security Training Course

February, 14-15, 2012
Menger Hotel, San Antonio, TX

The Security Training Course (STC) runs concurrent with the Basic Safety School (BSS). The first day’s curriculum brings together students from both disciplines for training that is designed to help them understand how to best function as an ALPA volunteer. On the second day, STC students break out for specific training related to managing security issues at the MEC level. The course offers a valuable opportunity for MEC security committee representatives to better serve the security needs of their MEC’s membership. It will provide attendees with a working knowledge of: ALPA protocols; a methodology for handling security-related matters; a familiarity with the ALPA security structure’s composition, role and activities; the Security Council and the interrelationship between MECs and ALPA National security structure. Dozens of MEC security representatives have taken advantage of this training since 2003 and have given the course very positive reviews. Click here to register.

Airport Safety Liaison Training

The Menger Hotel, San Antonio, TX
February 9-11, 2010
The most effective interface ALPA pilots have with the managers of the airports they use is the Airport Safety Liaison (ASL). The ASL provides the line pilot with his best representation to airport managers and municipal governments; the levels of technical and regulatory knowledge required to function in the ASL position demands a comprehensive and motivating training program. Prior Approval of your MEC Central Air Safety Chairman to volunteer in the ALPA Air Safety Structure and Approval of the ALPA National AGE Group Chairman is required to register for this course. Register online.

ALPA Honors Military Veterans

November 11, 2009 - On this solemn anniversary of the end of World War I—Remembrance Day in Canada and Veterans Day in the United States—we want to thank and recognize all of the sacrifices that our military veterans have made, both in war and peace, and that our members on long-term military leave, non-deployed reservists, and National Guard members and their families continue to make on a daily basis to defend our country and its interests.

For our U.S. members who still serve, know that we take our charge to protect your interests against aggressive management actions seriously when it comes to enforcing and protecting your rights under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Act of 1994 (USERRA). God bless you and your loved ones.
