Capt. Jeffrey Sedin, United Airlines

2022 PRESIDENTIAL CITATION

Capt. Jeff Sedin began ALPA safety work in 1988. A United pilot, he has served as Chicago O’Hare’s airport safety liaison since 1989 and represented airline pilots’ perspectives on airport and ground environment issues both domestically and internationally. Often the only airline pilot representative on industry working groups, Sedin has advocated for the highest safety standards on topics such as emergency arresting systems, signage, drones, and airport rescue and firefighting.

Sedin has served as co-chair of the Federal Aviation Administration Runway Safety Council, and helped block development near Phoenix Sky Harbor International airport that would have threatened air safety. Sedin is currently the ALPA Airport and Ground Environment Group chair as well as the chair of the Airport and Ground Environment Group chair at the International Federation of Air Line Pilots Associations (IFALPA).
