2022 PRESIDENTIAL CITATION

A longtime pilot group Jumpseat Committee leader, F/O Paul Emery worked tirelessly to help airline pilots regain jumpseating privileges after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

A dedicated advocate, F/O Emery played an instrumental role in the development of jumpseating policies at United Airlines and served as a mentor for other ALPA members working on jumpseat issues. He helped develop the “Make the Walk” campaign to ensure that no jumpseating pilot would be left behind at the gate, advocated for making jumpseat information accessible on mobile devices, and worked to clearly define pilot-in-command authority in airline policy manuals.
