Over the past 10 years, ALPA has added the annual Legislative Summit to its robust advocacy efforts. Becoming one of the union’s crowning events, the summit brings in scores of ALPA pilots to call on their members of Congress to promote the Association’s pilot-partisan agenda.

This year, with the looming deadline for the FAA reauthorization bill, ALPA pilots engaged with elected officials to advocate for maintaining airline pilot qualification and training standards that have led to a 99.8 percent reduction in airline passenger fatalities in the United States and to protect the rights of airline employees by supporting legislation like the Fair and Open Skies Act, which, if enacted, would protect U.S.-based airlines and their workers from unfair business practices associated with flag-of-convenience air carriers.

For more than 90 years, ALPA’s pilot volunteers, elected leaders, and professional staff have provided their unique expertise, experience, and perspective to ensure that the North American airline industry is the gold standard in air transportation.
