Careers at ALPA

Employees receive generous health care benefits starting on day one. Options include an Aetna PPO Plan, an Aetna High Deductible Health Plan, and a Kaiser HMO Plan (where available). Plans include medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees, their spouses, and dependent children. Employees do not pay premiums if they enroll in the Aetna High Deductible Health Plan or the Kaiser HMO Plan.

Employees also have access to Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, as well as Health Savings Accounts, which allow them to set aside pre-tax dollars for qualified expenses.

In addition, employees who meet the years of service and age requirements upon retirement are eligible to join our Retiree Health Plan.

ALPA makes a 14% retirement contribution on behalf of each employee. Contributions are made to the 401(k) and the Market-Based Cash Balance Plan (MBCBP) after 180 days of employment. No employee contribution required! Employees can choose to make pre-tax, Roth, and post-tax contributions to the 401(k). The plan permits in-plan Roth conversions and follows a four-year vesting schedule. The MBCBP has a three-year cliff vesting period.

ALPA also makes a 1% contribution to a Retiree Health Account (Retiree Health Reimbursement Arrangement) once an employee reaches age 56. Funds in this account can be used to pay for permitted medical expenses incurred by the employee and their eligible dependents during retirement.

Employees enjoy 15 days of paid vacation, 13 holidays, 2 volunteer days, and generous sick and bereavement leave. Vacation accrual rates increase with tenure at the organization.

After one year of service, employees are eligible for our paid parental leave policy, which provides 12 weeks of paid leave for the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Parental leave must be used within 12 months of the qualifying event.

Employees receive company-paid premiums for life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and long-term disability insurance, providing peace of mind for them and their loved ones.

ALPA also provides company-paid life insurance for employees' spouses and dependent children.

After six months of service, employees are eligible for ALPA's Education Assistance Program, which reimburses 100% of eligible expenses for classes or certifications that further their careers at ALPA.

Employees can also access a variety of additional benefits to fit their needs, including a comprehensive legal plan, supplemental life insurance, a college 529 plan, pet insurance, long-term care insurance, and qualified transportation fringe benefits (where available).

Employees are eligible for partial remote work opportunities after six months of service.

ALPA offers a supplemental health plan through Canada Life, available to employees and their eligible dependents from their date of hire. The plan provides reimbursement for covered medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug expenses.

Employees may also choose to make additional contributions to their retirement accounts.
