NWA Pilots Informational Picketing in MSP a Huge Success
Northwest Airlines pilots demonstrated their displeasure with management's excessive contract demands by informational picketing and leafleting Jan. 4 in front of the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport.
By all accounts the informational picketing and leafleting event was successful both in terms of garnering extensive media coverage and support. As part of this event, MEC Chairman Capt. Mark McClain and ALPA President Capt. Duane Woerth gave numerous interviews to reporters from all over the country.
In remarks to the pilots before the picketing began, Capt. McClain said "We have made significant sacrifices to help our airline. We will not, however, sacrifice pilot jobs.”
NWA ALPA is considering additional informational picketing and other activities in Minneapolis, Detroit and Memphis.
