F/O Steve Savidge, Alaska Airlines

2020 ALPA PRESIDENTIAL CITATION

F/O Steve Savidge is honored as the recipient of a 2020 ALPA Presidential Citation for his work with Pilot Peer Support (PPS) and aeromedical issues during the pandemic. When COVID-19 hit, F/O Savidge played a critical role in the creation of the Alaska MEC COVID-19 Task Group, leading the Aeromedical component of the group. During his time on the task group, Steve audited multiple aircraft cleanings. His observations and recommendations to the Company led to several material changes with the aircraft sanitation process to keep crew and passengers safe. Serving the Alaska MEC since 2017, Savidge standardized the way pilots called in sick, supported the HIMS Committee, and advocated for implementing the Pilot Peer Support program—including getting buy-in from Alaska management for this resource, which proved critical during the COVID-19 pandemic.
