Kelowna Flightcraft Pilots Ratify Tentative Agreement on New Contract

VANCOUVER, BC—Kelowna Flightcraft (KFC) pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), recently announced they have ratified a tentative agreement with the Company on a four-year contract retroactive to April 2021. With nearly 92 percent of eligible pilots participating, 73 percent voted to ratify the agreement. The pilots will now move forward with contract enhancements on a number of key issues including increasing wages, improved scheduling rules, vacation bidding, and uniform allowances.

Capt. Graham Cartwright, KFC Master Executive Council chair, said the following after ratification: “Despite a year no one could have predicted in 2020, the pilots of Kelowna Flightcraft ushered in 2021 with high hopes for optimism and growth within our workplace. We understood the COVID-19 pandemic significantly altered the landscape of airline industry, namely for international passenger service. Thankfully, for our own operation, the cargo sector in Canada remained relatively strong throughout the pandemic.

“The new contract reflects the determination and hard work the KFC pilots have continued to display, despite years of uncertainty. Looking ahead, the pilots will work to implement our new contract and we remain optimistic that the Company will continue making efforts to acquire new flying contracts that will lead to an expansion of operations and additional pilot hiring.”

Founded in 1931, ALPA is the largest airline pilot union in the world and represents more than 61,000 pilots at 38 U.S. and Canadian airlines. Visit the ALPA website at alpa.org or follow us on Twitter @ALPAPilots.
