ALPA Pilots and Air Transat Continue Contract Discussions

MONTREAL – The pilot leadership of Air Transat, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association Int’l, issued the following statement regarding the progress of contract negotiations with company management:

“The parties met this weekend to try to reach an agreement before the end of the mandate of the conciliator. Despite some progress, they have unfortunately not succeeded.

“The parties are now in mediation and the mediator to the file has summoned the parties for a meeting from February 15 to 18. The parties have agreed to meet on that date and are confident that these final discussions will allow them to reach a settlement.”

The mediator assigned by the Labour Minister has placed a ban on either party commenting or issuing any further communications to the media from February 15 to 18.

Pilots at Air Transat joined ALPA in 1999. The group’s 520 members operate the fleet’s A310-300s and A330-200s and -300s, plus B-737-700s and -800s from bases in Montreal, P.Q.; Toronto, Ont.; and Vancouver, B.C.
