DALLAS—On Friday, the Envoy Air Master Executive Council (MEC) of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) elected a new chair to lead the more than 2,200 Envoy pilots.

The voting members of the Envoy MEC elected Capt. Aaron Schaap to replace Capt. Nick DeNicola, who is leaving the airline. Capt. Schaap’s term will begin December 1, 2021 and continue until September 7, 2023. Envoy is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines and operates more than 1,000 flights each day.

Prior to being elected Envoy MEC chair, Capt. Schaap served as chair of the Envoy MEC’s Contract Compliance Committee as well as in numerous other volunteer positions. He joined the airline in 2017 and upgraded to captain in April 2018.
