Tell Parliament to Act Now on Vital Airline Worker Protections

Now as ever, ALPA’s top priority remains the safety of our passengers, cargo, and—just as importantly—our flight crewmembers. It is crucial every effort be taken to safeguard this essential workforce so vital to the health and well-being of our communities.

ALPA’s latest Call to Action, “Protect Frontline Aviation Workers and Their Families,” urges union members and others to participate by reaching out to Canada’s Minister of Transport to urge him to make frontline workers’ health a priority during this difficult and unprecedented time. Specifically, the campaign calls for the separation of flight crews from passengers at airport screening facilities and the implementation of flight crew COVID-19 testing stations at all major Canadian airports.

Air crews are taking significant personal risks by continuing to report for duty, which puts their families at risk as well. The World Health Organization has provided guidelines that airlines must follow to limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, but more action is needed.

The initial response has been fantastic, but ALPA Canada President Capt. Tim Perry encourages others to join in this effort. Add your voice today to this extremely important issue and tell government leaders to support aviation relief that includes protections for airline pilots and other frontline aviation workers. Participate in the “Protect Frontline Aviation Workers and Their Families” Call to Action today!
