US Airways Unit of Air Line Pilots Association Reelects Officers

PITTSBURGH—The leadership of the US Airways unit of the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) today reelected its officers to two-year terms beginning March 22, 2004. Following a vote by the pilot union’s governing body, the Master Executive Council (MEC), Captain Bill Pollock was reelected as chairman, Captain Kim Snider as vice chairman and Captain Mike D’Angelo as secretary-treasurer.

"It is an honor to continue serving as chairman of the US Airways MEC. Kim, Mike and I pledge to maintain our focus on the challenges that are ahead, and we look forward to participating in the creation of a revised business plan that will restore profitability to our airline," said Captain Pollock.

"Fundamental to the restoration of our profitability is the requirement for senior management to initiate this corporate transformation by repairing US Airways’ corporate culture. Their willingness to improve the company culture—which would include direct communication with their employees, more coordination with ALPA and other labor groups, and accountability for management decisions—will ultimately determine the future of US Airways."

Captain Bill Pollock has been a pilot with US Airways for 19 years and holds a captain position on the A320. He previously served two terms as the MEC Vice Chairman and, prior to that, served as chairman of the MEC Legislative Affairs Committee for 12 years.

A 23-year veteran of US Airways, Captain Kim Snider has held a variety of union positions, including member of the union’s merger and negotiating committees. He flies the A320 out of Pittsburgh.

Captain Mike D’Angelo previously served a term as chairman of ALPA Local Executive Council 32 in Boston. He was hired by US Airways in 1985 and holds a captain position on the A320.

The US Airways pilots MEC is comprised of three MEC Officers and 12 Local Council Representatives who are elected by more than 3,100 US Airways pilots. ALPA is the world’s oldest and largest pilot union, representing 64,000 airline pilots at 42 airlines in the U.S. and Canada. ALPA’s website is
