Wykoff Reelected IFALPA President Airline pilots’ associations around
the world cast their collective vote for Capt. Don Wykoff (DAL) to remain the
president of the International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations
during the final session of the Federation’s 68th annual conference.
“I’m honored, and will work hard to hold your trusted confidence moving
forward,” Wykoff told delegates. Wykoff will continue leading the Federation as
one of only two organizations granted permanent observer status at the
International Civil Aviation Organization’s Air Navigation Commission. To
enhance that business relationship, under his tenure, Wykoff played an
instrumental role in moving IFALPA’s headquarters to Montreal, the home of
international aviation policy decision makers.
“The move to Montreal has generated deliverables to the
Federation and its member associations already,” Wykoff said. “Being able to
engage the stakeholders in Montreal has been very fruitful even in the short
tenure we’ve had thus far.”
Delegates also dually reelected by acclamation Capt. Rod Lypchuk (JAZ) as
the Federation’s executive vice president of administration and finance.
This year’s conference explored both industrial and safety-related aviation
issues, including International Air Transport Association CEO Tony Tyler’s take
on the upcoming challenges for the aviation industry and a briefing from
Ambassador Duane Woerth, U.S. representative on the council of ICAO. For more
coverage, stay tuned to the May issue of Air Line Pilot.
The Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association graciously hosted this year’s
conference in Dublin, Ireland. Unión Panameña de Aviadores Comerciales will host
the 69th annual IFALPA conference in Panama City, Panama, on March 28-31, 2014. |
