CanJet Pilots Ratify Collective Bargaining Agreement

The pilots of CanJet Airlines ratified a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) yesterday by a majority vote. With 80.5 percent of the pilots participating in the vote, 87 percent voted in favor of the agreement.

“We are pleased that there was such a high participation in the vote. It shows unity within the group and that the enhancements achieved in almost all sections of the contract were satisfactory to the pilots,” said CanJet MEC Chairman Capt. Alex Sirros.

The CanJet pilots finalized the collective bargaining process with their management within eighteen months. The MEC and negotiating team went on the road to educate the membership at the beginning of the month, and the voting period for ratification followed thereafter. The pilot group will see some key gains in the new contract that provide them with a better work and life balance, and also some industry standard rules that were absent in the previous CBA.

The CanJet pilots’ new contract becomes amendable in March 2017.
