Secretary-Treasurers’ Conference Concludes |
|
The
annual
Secretary-Treasurers’
Conference of the Air
Line Pilots Association,
Int’l, wound down today
with presentations on
company-paid flight pay
loss, merger assessment
and funding issues, and
the latest offerings
from the Information
Technology and Services
Department.
In a segment
yesterday addressing
dues dollars, ALPA vice
president–finance and
meeting moderator Capt.
Randy Helling stressed,
“While our financial
situation has stabilized
in recent years, it is
by no means robust.” In
his various
presentations, he
repeated the
secretary-treasurer
mantra to “live within
your budget.”
During the course of
the three-day program,
conference attendees
learned about the
policies and nuances of
managing the union’s
resources, legal
considerations, and the
professional staff
members to contact when
they have questions, all
while networking with
their peers from other
member airlines.

Controllers Extend Current Contract |
|
The
National Air Traffic
Controllers Association
(NATCA), representing
15,000 controllers,
announced yesterday that
it has reached a deal
with the FAA to extend
its existing contract
for another four years.
Controllers will
receive the same pay
raises as other federal
government employees (as
opposed to independently
negotiated raises), and
current work rules will
not change.
The most recent NATCA
contract was ratified in
2009. With this latest
decision, the collective
bargaining agreement now
runs through June 2016.
In a joint statement,
acting FAA Administrator
Michael Huerta and
National Air Traffic
Controllers Association
President Paul Rinaldi
said that this agreement
serves both
organizations.
Congrats to our
fellow AFL-CIO members
on their contract
extension!
