Annual Cleveland Event a Tremendous Success |
|
|
Cleveland
was the place to be last
weekend as ALPA pilots
from CommutAir,
Continental, and
ExpressJet gathered for
the third annual Joint
LEC Meeting. With more
than 100 people in
attendance, this highly
anticipated event was a
tremendous success.
Pilots and their
families received
updates on base-specific
issues while enjoying
great food, fun
activities, and
socializing with their
fellow ALPA brethren.
The event kicked off
with brief updates by
local union leaders on
what was happening
within each of the pilot
groups. Capt. Bill
Couette (EGL), vice
president–administration
of the Air Line Pilots
Association, Int’l, provided an overview of
the issues at the
national level and
talked about how pilots
can make their voices
heard. The group also
received an electronic
message from Capt. John
Prater (CAL), former ALPA president, who
helped establish the
joint event in 2009. The
Cleveland LECs of CAL
172, CMT 152, and XJT
176 then met separately
to conduct
council-specific
business.
Be sure to mark your
calendar for next year’s
event. All ALPA pilots
and their family members
are invited to attend
the fourth annual Joint
LEC Meeting. It’s
currently scheduled for
December 15, 2012, at
the Winking Lizard
Tavern in Lakewood,
Ohio.

ALPA’s Government
Affairs Department and
Political Action
Committee play vital
roles in influencing
legislative and
regulatory decisions
that determine national
air transportation
policy. Call to Action
programs provide ALPA
members with a chance to
contact their elected
public officials and
voice their opinions . .
. but how familiar are
you with these
Association efforts?
Please take a moment to
complete a
six-question survey
and tell us what you
think about these and
other Government Affairs
issues. We want to hear
from you.
