ALPA Applauds President Biden for Continued Commitment to Labor

McLEAN, Va.—Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) president Capt. Joe DePete issued the following statement today after President Biden signed a new executive order establishing the White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment:

“ALPA is grateful to this administration’s continued commitment to ensuring the fundamental right of all workers to organize, collectively bargain, and have a seat at table. Workers in the United States have been true heroes during this pandemic as many have helped keep our supply chains open and the economy moving forward in these unprecedented times.

“ALPA is proud to be a part of America’s labor movement and strongly believes in the dignity of work and the opportunity for all workers to organize and engage in a free and fair election to join a union. We are pleased the Biden-Harris Administration recognizes the role unions play in economic and social life in America, and for the need to revise and revisit policies to enhance the role of labor unions. We look forward to working with this Administration on these centrally important issues.”

Founded in 1931, ALPA is the largest airline pilot union in the world and represents over 59,000 pilots at 35 U.S. and Canadian airlines. Visit the ALPA website at alpa.org or follow us on Twitter @ALPAPilots.
