Delta Air Lines Capt. Dan Coogan Awarded with ALPA’s Presidential Citation

Canton Pilot Honored for Contributions to Aviation Safety


WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) today recognized Delta Air Lines Capt. Dan Coogan with a Presidential Citation for his outstanding efforts to enhance aviation safety. The award was presented during ALPA’s 64th Air Safety Forum in Washington, D.C.

Capt. Coogan has been a key promoter and supporter throughout the years in helping move the industry toward analysis-based safety recommendations and has been a strong supporter of just-culture principles as well. Through his dedicated efforts, he has earned the reputation as a leading subject-matter expert for aviation safety programs and never hesitates to offer helpful guidance to a wide variety of ALPA safety volunteers as they work to foster healthy programs at their respective companies.

“As an expert in the field advancing aviation safety, Capt. Coogan has helped enhance ALPA’s stellar safety reputation through his extensive efforts,” said Capt. Tim Canoll, ALPA president. “His dedication to ensuring that our industry continues to learn from the industry’s proactive voluntary safety programs and apply those lessons accordingly helps ensure that the United States continues to have one of the safest air transport systems in the world.”
