JetBlue Pilots Reach an Agreement in Principle with the Company

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, JetBlue Airways pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), announced they have reached an agreement in principle (AIP) on a collective bargaining agreement after more than three years of negotiations with airline management. This agreement will now be reviewed by the JetBlue ALPA Master Executive Council (MEC), who will vote on whether to send it out to the pilot group for a full ratification vote.

“This agreement in principle is the next step toward our final goal of having a fair and equitable contract with our company,” said Capt. Patrick Walsh, chairman of the JetBlue MEC. “In order to maintain a fair ratification process, we will not be releasing details about the agreement prior to it being sent out to the pilot group.” 

If the MEC approves the AIP, it will be expanded with contract language into a tentative agreement that will be sent out to the pilot group for a ratification vote. Should it be ratified, this agreement will be the first collective bargaining agreement concluded by any labor group with JetBlue management.
