First Officer Preston Greene Receives ALPA’s Aviation Security Award

Granbury Pilot Recognized for Contributions to Improve Crewmember Security

WASHINGTON, D.C.—At its 63rd Air Safety Forum in Washington, D.C., today, the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) recognized FedEx Express First Officer Preston Greene with its Aviation Security Award for his valued guidance and extensive work to promote aviation security, specifically in the realm of air cargo.

A former Navy SEAL, First Officer Greene has served as a trusted expert to the Aviation Security Advisory Committee, providing recommendations to the U.S. Transportation Security Administration on aviation security matters, particularly as they relate to cargo security.

“First Officer Greene’s dedication and commitment to his fellow pilots and aviation security overall have been instrumental in achieving results that will be felt throughout ALPA and our industry for years to come,” said Capt. Tim Canoll, ALPA president. “Through his dedicated efforts, First Officer Greene has served as a powerful advocate for cargo pilots on numerous aviation security initiatives. It is an honor to recognize his accomplishments with our Association’s highest security award.”

In 1998, First Officer Greene started his commercial aviation career with American Eagle. Prior to joining FedEx Express in 2006, he supported U.S. efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan as chief pilot for Blackwater Aviation. He is also the recipient of the Federal Flight Deck Officer Bronze Service Award.

A graduate of Embry-Riddle University, First Officer Greene also serves as vice chairman for the ALPA President’s Committee for Cargo. Currently a first officer on the Airbus 300-600 based out of Memphis, he also holds a flight engineer rating for the Boeing 727, and is type rated in the A310, CL600, HS125, DHC-4A, and Casa 212. He also is a current CFI, II, MEI instructor.
