Statement on Confirmation of NTSB Chairman Sumwalt

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) issued the following statement today after the United States Senate confirmed Capt. Robert L. Sumwalt as chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB):

“ALPA would like to extend sincere congratulations to Robert Sumwalt on his confirmation as the 14th NTSB chairman. We look forward to working closely with Chairman Sumwalt and his dedicated colleagues at the NTSB as we continue to collaborate to further improve aviation safety.

“Chairman Sumwalt’s extensive qualifications and experience in the aviation industry, which include cofounding ALPA’s own Critical Incident Response Program, have resulted in numerous advancements in safety over the course of his decades of service.”
