An Invitation from ALPA's President to the 2017 Legislative Summit

March 6, 2017

Dear ALPA members,

In the course of our history, one thing has always propelled professional pilots to the top of our industry: action. In the cockpit, at the negotiating table, and in our nation’s capital, we take the controls and determine our own fate. I hope you will join me in taking action once again by attending ALPA’s 2017 Legislative Summit.

The summit will provide ALPA pilots an opportunity to enhance their advocacy and PAC leadership skills through hands-on training. Participants will become effective advocates and learn how to grow participation in ALPA’s government affairs programs within their pilot group. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your legislative/political abilities, no matter your experience level. Attendees will put those new abilities to use defending the profession and elevating the industry.

Over three days in Washington, D.C., summit attendees will participate in legislative briefings, workshops, panels, and a Capitol Hill reception with Members of Congress and their staff, all in preparation for a lobby day on Capitol Hill advocating for relevant, pilot-partisan issues. This direct interface between pilots and decision makers will drive ALPA’s success in Washington.

Spaces for the summit are limited, so please register now. The final day to reserve a space or join the waitlist is May 8. This year, we have blocked rooms at the Hyatt Regency for the nights of June 11–14 at a nightly rate of $275 plus applicable taxes. Contact your MEC for approval of all attendee-related expenses including travel, sleeping rooms, meals, and flight pay loss (if approved in advance). As always, we kindly ask that you do your best to keep travel costs low by using passes, reduced-rate fares, and jumpseats whenever possible.

I hope to see you at this event where we will create pilot-partisan change in Washington, D.C. Register today!
