ALPA Leading the Charge for Regulation of Lithium Batteries

After the House of Representatives introduced its FAA reauthorization bill last week, ALPA quickly voiced our opposition to several components of the draft legislation, including the failure to properly and appropriately regulate the transportation and packaging of lithium batteries by air.

As part of a coordinated effort to draw attention to this missed opportunity, Capt. Chuck Dyer, chairman of the FedEx branch of ALPA, wrote an opinion piece—featured in today’s Memphis Commercial Appeal—highlighting the crucial need to regulate lithium batteries as Dangerous Goods for all airline operations.
